There are many different suppliers of utilities throughout Bruce County. Some distribution is highly centralized such as natural gas, telephone service is defined by geographical limits, while water and sewage services are usually provided locally by the municipality.

The following information is meant to provide general guidelines and directions for searching out the appropriate service. Interested parties are urged to contact the utilities or the municipalities directly for more detailed information. At the request of suppliers, little rate or pricing information is provided on this website because of the many different kinds of potential services that could be provided in many different geographical locations.

In general, Bruce County utilities provide excellent products and services at competitive prices.

NATURAL GAS

Union Gas is the sole distributor of natural gas within Bruce County. Both residential and industrial gas is available for most parts of the county with the exception of Kincardine and Huron Kinloss. Product can be obtained by contacting Union Gas directly or by seeking out local natural gas contractors in the different municipalities.

ELECTRICITY

The supply of electricity in Ontario is obviously undergoing a period of intense change. Within Bruce County, there are currently three major distribution channels. Depending on preferred geographical focus, interested parties should contact those distributors directly. Prices under earlier structures showed vast differences throughout the county. These different pricing systems are currently being reviewed with a view to harmonizing rates, prices and services throughout the County.

These services are provided locally by the respective municipalities. Each is subject to a large number of variables in service and costing. Interested parties should contact the municipality in which they are interested. In general , most municipalities have excess capacity in both water and sewage treatment. Also, many rural areas rely on their individual wells and septic systems.
